Sophie Breitmeyer creates eternal British luxury, her jewellery is bespoke at its core. Handmade in the UK, the label produces pieces that are set to become future heirlooms.
Sophie Breitmeyer is the great granddaughter of one of original directors of De Beers, Louis Breitmeyer & Sir Michael Balcon founder of Ealing Studios. Born & raised between the family farm in Cambridgeshire and Meribel in the French Alps. Sophie was educated at Heathfield, Ascot before studying Jewellery Design at the prestigious Central St Martins College of Art & Design.
Upon graduating from Central St Martins in 2010, Sophie was awarded The Bright Young Gems Award at International Jewellery London & described by Vogue Italia as “a new talent to watch.” She has since worked as a freelance designer for a number of renowned fine and fashion jewellery brands such as Kiki McDonough, William & Son, Winterson & Tateossian as well as collaborating with the likes of Fyodor Golan on their award winning Spring/Summer 2012 collection, for which she was nominated to be Catwalk Jeweller of the Year.
In 2012 Sophie set up her eponymous label, Sophie Breitmeyer London with a debut ready to wear fine jewellery collection, Serpentina. She has since then released annual capsule collections developing a reputation for her personal yet creative approach to design and unusual combinations of different coloured golds and stones. The inspiration for these collections often comes from other design fields such as fashion and architecture.
Today the label is run between Sophie’s West London home & her studio in The Goldsmiths’ Centre, Clerkenwell. She is closely followed by her dog Hackle wherever she goes.
